Craig, the seat of
Moffat County, is the economic hub of northwest Colorado. Our town is
rich in recreation, natural resources and the lore of
the Old West. Craig is centrally located between Denver and Salt Lake
City and is served by U.S. Highway 40 and State Highway 13.
Other towns on the same site predated the formation of Craig,
including Windsor and Yampa. By 1878, the area consisted mostly of
numerous open ranches.
Hunters have been drawn to Moffat County for over 200 years. This is a
favorite region for bow, muzzleloading and rifle hunting for deer,
elk, antelope, bears and mountain lions.
